    Notes on this file

What comes across, and what doesn’t

Cutpeek reads the lines an .fcm file stores and writes them out unchanged. Where a file holds something it can’t convert, the notes beside the mat say so.

      • Cut linesEvery outline in every piece, with the exact curves CanvasWorkspace stored.
      • Draw linesPen lines come across on their own layer, so you can keep or drop them.
      • SizesTrue size in millimetres and inches, on the ScanNCut’s 12 × 12 or 12 × 24 in cutting area.
      • PiecesEach piece keeps its place on the mat, including pieces Brother’s projects split across files.
      • ThumbnailThe small picture the machine shows is displayed beside the lines, for comparison.
      • RhinestonesStone positions are drawn as circles the size of the stone.
      • Print-and-cut pictureThe printed picture isn’t in the .fcm file, so only the cut lines come across.
      • Seam allowanceThe machine adds it when cutting fabric; the export has the sewing line.
      • Colours.fcm files don’t store colours. Cut lines are dark, pen lines blue.
      • Protected patternsCutpeek doesn’t unlock anything; it reads plain .fcm files only.

      1. 1

        Open

Choose or drop an .fcm file, from CanvasWorkspace, a ScanNCut’s USB stick or a pattern download. It never leaves your computer.

        Check

See every piece on the cutting area at true scale, with cut and pen lines told apart, the size and the thumbnail the machine shows.

      3. 3

        Save

Download an SVG in millimetres, for whatever software or machine comes next. No Brother account needed.

      DXF export and batch conversion

Viewing and SVG export are free. For people who convert a lot, or cut with lasers and CAD, a single payment adds:

      • DXF export in millimetres or inches, one DXF layer per Silhouette layer, for laser, CAD and older cutters.
      • Batch conversion: choose many .studio3 or .fcm files and download one ZIP of SVGs or DXFs. A file that can't be read is listed with the reason; the rest still convert.
      • No account, no subscription. Files still never leave your computer.

Print-and-cut registration marks aren't included: Cutpeek can't yet read where Silhouette stores them, so it won't pretend to.
